Job Description

Associate Corporate (M&A / Private Equity) Attorney

  • Practice Area: Corporate – Mergers & Acquisitions / Private Equity
  • Location: New York, NY
  • Schedule: Onsite or Hybrid based on firm policy; full-time with typical billable requirements (~2,000+ annually)
  • Salary: Estimated base range of $260,000 to $420,000 with discretionary bonuses based on performance and firm results.

A premier AmLaw 20 firm with a globally recognized M&A and private equity practice, advising leading financial sponsors, public and private companies, and institutional investors. The New York office is at the center of high-value, cross-border dealmaking for clients across finance, technology, healthcare, and industrial sectors.

Description:

You will represent private equity sponsors and corporate clients on acquisitions, divestitures, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, and joint ventures. This includes drafting and negotiating purchase agreements, coordinating diligence and financing, and managing multi-disciplinary deal teams. You will also counsel clients on portfolio company matters, governance, and regulatory considerations. This role offers direct exposure to sophisticated transactions, early responsibility, and a clear trajectory toward senior roles.

Qualifications:

  • JD from an accredited law school; NY Bar admission or eligibility required.
  • Preferred class years: 2018–2022 (mid-level) or 2015+ (senior lateral).
  • Substantial experience in M&A and private equity transactions, ideally at an AmLaw or highly regarded boutique firm.
  • Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and deal management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
  • Strong client service and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Cross-border or sector-specific deal experience a plus.
